Crytek have announced that CryEngine 3 will be revealed at the upcoming GDC.  Cryengine 2 is still the best engine out there on the market in many ways, in my opinion.  Best editor, best feature set, best rendering fidelity etc.  I'm curious as to whether this is really a whole new iteration, or simply a refined version of CryEngine 2 with console support.

Either way its got me excited, and I hope Crytek continue to stay ahead of the game.  There are far too many games out there that have jumped on the Unreal3 bandwagon.  I want to see more games using CryEngine as middleware.

I do enjoy it when developers give lists of favourite games and why.  I find it almost impossible myself and If I do manage a 'top 10' list its almost immediately void when I remember one of those 'how could I forget' games and the whole list needs to be restructured.

Its always interesting and informative to hear other peoples opinions as a designer, and v. cool when you discover something new from it.

These lists of games are more based around Historically significant games or 'Canon' games and games that you should be playing right now, or 'Pop' games.

I'm going to have a think about the subject and try to form my own list in due course, I'll post as a follow up.

I am very happy to say that I will soon be part of the team at Travellers Tales, probably most famous for making the Lego StarWars games! :D
